Savannah Indivisible Kicks Off 2026 Civic Engagement Series with Candidate Forum in March

Data Center Town Hall and Statewide Candidate Forum Scheduled for April and May

SAVANNAH, GA – February 3, 2026 â€“ Savannah Indivisible, a grassroots organization dedicated to protecting constitutional rights and democratic principles in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District, today announced its Civic Engagement series for the first half of 2026.

The series kicks off with the Georgia’s 1st Congressional District Candidate Forum on March 24, 2026 at the Otis S. Johnson, Ph.D. Cultural Arts Center in Savannah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The forum will give voters a chance to meet the Democratic candidates running for the office occupied by Rep. Earl “Buddy” Carter, who is vacating his seat to run in the Senate race.

The forum will feature all eight Democratic candidates that qualified: Defonsio Daniels, Joyce Marie Griggs, Amanda Hollowell, Michael McCord, Joey Palimeno, Sharon Stokes Williamson, Pat Wilver, and Randy Zurcher. The forum will be moderated by Patti Hewitt, former Democratic candidate for Georgia’s 1st Congressional District.

“Georgia’s 1st congressional district race is one of most vital contests for coastal Georgia because we need to flip this seat to blue with a candidate that stands with the people, not billionaires,” said Savannah Indivisible Co-Chair, Suzanne Potts. “Georgians are facing sharp cuts to SNAP, healthcare, and other services that are vital to our communities. This is the first forum for this group of candidates, making it the ideal time for voters to hear how each candidate plans to address violence from ICE, escalating prices, attacks on civil rights, the climate crisis, and more.”

The General Primary election will be held on May 19, 2026. The deadline to register to vote is April 20, 2026.

Those interested in attending the Candidate Forum for Georgia’s 1st Congressional District can RSVP here.

Series Continues in April and May

To help educate the public on the impact of data centers in coastal Georgia, Savannah Indivisible will host a Data Center Town Hall on April 8, 2026. Invited speakers will share their expertise on data centers and the impact on local communities, utility prices, water resources, and the environment.

“Savannah Indivisible is delivering on its 2026 mission which includes reclaiming political power by helping to elect progressive candidates,” continued Potts. “As part of our civic engagement strategy, we will host candidate forums, run voter education campaigns, and facilitate voter engagement programs to inspire our community to vote for change.”
