About

Savannah Indivisible, formerly Coastal Georgia for Democracy, formed in February 2025 as a means of organizing against Trump 2.0’s nationalist, billionaire-first agenda.

We are a progressive organization based in Savannah, Georgia with a dedicated focus on the following core areas:

1. We resist fascism by rallying, marching, protesting, and mobilizing against corrupt authoritarian overreach. Specifically the Trump regime and its destructive policies. We resist the erosion of voting rights; the deconstruction of civil liberties like free speech, due process, and birthright citizenship; the racist agenda to deport lawful and law-abiding immigrants; attacks on women’s rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and other vulnerable communities; and the decimation of living wages, affordable housing, and accessible healthcare.
2. We reclaim political power by helping to elect progressive candidates. We host candidate forums, run voter education campaigns, and operate voter engagement programs to inspire our community to vote for change. We reclaim the very idea of freedom — true freedom — as an equal standard for all people. We reject the far right’s corrupted vision of fascist impunity, eloquently summarized by Frank Wilhoit: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” Reclamation starts in the voting booth.
3. We work to renew the community of our city, county, and state. We support mutual aid programs, stand up for vulnerable constituencies, and advocate for bold civic policies. We partner with a network of shelters, food pantries, environmental groups, and legal aid providers to help stitch together a social net for anyone in need, no questions asked. We work to rebuild broken political systems and push for investments in social programs, education, and infrastructure.

We are not beholden to the Republican party, the Democratic party, or the Socialist party. We remain independent from political affiliation in order to advocate policy ideas and candidates that genuinely help people versus advance any single party’s arbitrary platform.

We believe that Georgia can be a state of abundance from which all of its residents share. We work toward a future of policy over partisanship, communal respect over culture wars, universal prosperity over income inequality. For Savannah, for Chatham and surrounding counties, for GA Congressional District 1, and all of Georgia.

Inclusivity — We are committed at every level to value and promote the diversity of community through dialogue, education, and ongoing equity.

Education — Genuinely learning about and engaging with others, and passing along resources that aid and protect the vulnerable, while disarming the ignorant, empower us all and deeply strengthen the community.

Non-violence — Non-violence is at the heart of democratic ideals. Violence is at the heart of the fascist approach to government. As a progressive advocacy group, we seek to expand and defend freedom in civil spaces without any violence. Read our commitment to non-violence.

What We Do

• Raise awareness of Constitutional rights violations by organizing rallies, marches, and protests
• Educate voters by hosting forums and town halls with candidates and elected officials
• Help get progressive candidates elected and hold them accountable to their campaign promises
• Increase voter registration and mobilize voting turnout
• Advocate for and lift voices of disenfranchised communities
• Contribute to mutual aid and community service
• Host social events for fun and fellowship

Geographic Area of Focus

Savannah Indivisible is primarily focused on the greater Savannah area. This is represented by State Congressional Districts 161 (Port Wentworth, SAV Airport, Rincon), 162 (southside, Hunter Army Airfield), 163 (midtown, Garden City), 164 (Pooler, Richmond Hill), 165 (east Savannah), and 166 (the islands). It includes two State Senate seats for District 1 and District 2.

We also collaborate with organizations across Georgia’s 1st Congressional District (currently occupied by Earl “Buddy” Carter).

Common Questions

Are you partisan or nonpartisan?

Savannah Indivisible was formed specifically outside the Republican / Democrat model in order to preserve independence from party dogma and histrionics. We promote progressive values and policies.

We believe in rationality, discourse, and nonpartisan collaboration. Those ingredients fuel strong, responsible government that serves the people. The government under Trump 2.0 — irrational, belligerent, myopic — could not be further from that baseline. We do not work with any candidate or group that aligns with MAGA.

Who joins Savannah Indivisible?

Honestly: anyone. Our group includes people from all walks of life: homemakers, corporate business, legal, healthcare, military. Students, professionals, retirees. Republicans shocked at what their party has devolved into. Democrats shocked at their party’s ineffectual response. Socialists shocked no one’s taking them more seriously. The unifying denominator is a simple idea: the Trump regime is destroying America but America is worth fighting for.

What is Indivisible?

We are the Savannah chapter of Indivisible, a grassroots movement of thousands of local chapters around the world with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.

Why did you change your name from "Coastal Georgia for Democracy" to "Savannah Indivisible"?

When the group started, we wanted a name that represented both our geographic focus and also our political inclination. After several iterations, we landed on Coastal Georgia for Democracy. From day one, we’ve co-branded as Savannah Indivisible to ensure people understood that our organizational backbone was independent from the Republican / Democrat duopoly.

Over time, people just called us “Savannah Indivisible”. It’s easier to remember, easier to say, and easier to understand its position within the political landscape. It just made sense to brand ourselves with the snappier, clearer name.

In January 2026, we officially changed our name to Savannah Indivisible.

Why bother?

Doing nothing is the easiest way to feel helpless. We are not helpless. We, the people, are anything but helpless. So we choose action.
